Battalion Chief Jason Guenther began his firefighting career in 2005 as a volunteer with the Gold Beach Fire Department. Two years later, he was hired on as Firefighter/Engineer with the City of North Bend, where he worked for six years before joining the Coos Bay Fire Department in 2014. In 2016, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant which he served as until his promotion to Battalion Chief in 2019.

Jason obtained his bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University in 2005. He returned to Southwestern Oregon Community College for his Associate’s in Paramedicine in 2012. In addition to working as a paramedic with Bay Cities Ambulance, he has attended multiple trainings, is certified as a Fire Officer 2, and is a certified technician on the state HazMat team.

Beyond his day-to-day firefighting duties, Jason is active with his family and chasing around his two sons. He also served as President of the career firefighters union, Local 2935, for two and a half years before being promoted to Battalion Chief.
